Core Purpose

  • To ensure the successful delivery of subsea energy projects and tenders through the application of engineering expertise and technical knowledge, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

  • Review assigned technical project documentation during the tender phase and provide ongoing support to the Tendering function throughout the tender delivery process.
  • Review assigned technical project documentation upon contract award, identifying and highlighting any changes or discrepancies between pre-award and contract documentation, as well as any deficiencies in tender method statements.
  • Prepare for and lead project kick-off meetings, ensuring clear alignment on scope, objectives, deliverables, and execution approach.
  • Define and maintain a clear understanding of customer project deliverables, including requirements, expectations, and delivery timelines.
  • Capture, document, and communicate lessons learned through the preparation of engineering notes and technical feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide balanced technical feedback, sharing both positive observations and areas for improvement to support continuous learning and enhanced project performance.
  • Liaise with the Document Control function to support management of MDRs, action tracking, and project documentation scheduling requirements.
  • Coordinate the preparation and issuance of procurement, fabrication, and installation documentation, including scopes of work, procedures, drawings, and technical sketches.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on offshore construction techniques and methodologies during third-party reviews, technical evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure that all designed, manufactured, assembled, and commissioned items are fit for purpose and met required technical, safety, and performance standards.
  • Manage all interfaces relevant to assigned tasks, including clients, subcontractors, internal teams, and vessels, ensuring effective coordination and communication across all stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver clear and concise project briefings to project personnel, including vessel crews, ensuring alignment on scope, procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure offshore personnel involved in project activities fully understand all relevant project documentation and requirements, including safety and quality witness and hold points.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and compliance of offshore construction and inspection activities with contract requirements, including adherence to witness and hold points.
  • Review vessel deck layouts and all lifting plans associated with project works to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant offshore execution.
  • Act as the focal point for resolving technical queries and issues arising during offshore construction and inspection activities, coordinating with onshore support teams as required to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Be accountable to the Project Manager/Offshore Project Manager for all engineering aspects of offshore operations.
  • Manage the offshore construction schedule, liaising with the Offshore Project Manager and client representatives to plan scope execution, communicate schedule changes and impacts, and maintain accurate as-built records.
  • Ensure all project engineering activities are conducted in accordance with established BMS processes and procedures.
  • Review Daily Progress Reports prior to issue, ensuring technical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Act as the focal point for the compilation of as-built documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.

QHSE Responsibilities

To have a general understanding of the areas of our QHSE Management System and OEG’s QHSE aims and objectives that are relevant to the role.

Comply with the requirements of OEG Energy Group Policies and the responsibilities within the wider QHSE Management System.

Skills and Experience 

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and thoroughness in all engineering outputs and deliverables.

  • Strong organisational skills with a structured and methodical approach to work.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels and with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and consolidate information from both internal and external customers to support effective project delivery.
  • Proficiency in CAD and design software for the development, review, and interpretation of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe applications.
  • Team-focused, proactive, adaptable, and supportive, with a constructive approach to challenges.
  • Working knowledge of subsea and topside installation techniques, equipment, and methodologies, including rigging and sea fastening, fabrication and construction methods, isolations and barriers, and general subsea installation practices.
  • Strong self-management capability with the ability to deliver work effectively with minimal supervision.

Qualifications 

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent demonstratable industry experience in a related field.
  • Current Topside Medical (desirable).
  • Valid Offshore Survival and Firefighting certification (desirable).
